At about 5,750 feet lies the Trübsee gondola station and lake. The clouds tops were just a few hundred feet below when I arrived. I found a few nice vantage points to watch the gondolas descend into the clouds below! After walking around a bit, it appeared that people were hiking somewhere. So I followed. Turns out that there is a summer hiking trail around the lake which you can do as well in the winter. Everything at this altitude was snow covered though not deeply at all. And anything that was deeply covered due to drifting snow was very firm and easy to walk on. It turns out that this area doesn't get much direct sunlight in the winter. The sun only showed itself for a few brief hours before going behind another mountain.
